Ancient Music at Oxford's second annual seminar series
Data:
Luogo: Christ Church College, Research Centre, Oxford - Evento in presenza e online
Condividiamo la notizia di questo interessante ciclo di seminari organizzato da Ancient Music at Oxford, di seguito tutte le informazioni.
This term, Ancient Music at Oxford will be holding the second annual seminar series entitled: Mousikē Technē: The Art of the Muses in Thought, Word, Sound, and Stage.
This seminar explores the ancient concept of mousikē technē—the art of the Muses—through its various dimensions, including philosophy, dance, language prosody, rhythm, melody, performance, music theory, composition, and aesthetics. Together, these elements formed the rich and multifaceted idea of “music” in the minds of the ancient Greeks.
Through this series, AMO aims to bring together different perspectives and methodologies that have often been separated by disciplinary boundaries, encouraging an integrated discussion of ancient musical thought and practice. A playlist of recordings of the lectures from last year’s seminar seminar series and concert can be found at this link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBljL8C0ilhtUFefphHzUcyzmK7p42lpF
